Journalism Students

Jessica Ahlstrom is a science journalism student at the University of Arizona and works as a Senior Instructional Specialist for Arizona Project WET at the Water Resources Research Center in Tucson.

Kalyn Miller is a student in wildlife conservation and management at the University of Arizona, and has an internship with the Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program.

Jorge Encinas is a student at the University of Arizona’s School of Journalism and a reporter for Arizona Sonora News.

Jason Myrand

Angela Hoover is a master’s student at the University of Arizona studying tropical ant nest beetles. She has a soft spot for old timey music, adjectives and creatures most people find repulsive.

Elizabeth Eaton is a journalism student working towards her graduate degree with an emphasis in the environment and science. She has worked internationally in Costa Rica and gastronomically for Edible Baja Arizona, a local food magazine.

John Palting is a Ph.D. student in entomology at the University of Arizona studying a group of moths whose caterpillars feed on lichens.

Mar Ruiz is an undergraduate student at the University of Arizona pursuing degrees in journalism, neuroscience and cognitive science and a minor in Spanish. She enjoys talking 24/7 and channeling her inner Beyoncé. Her likes include birds, the beach, watching movies and dancing. She has yet to meet a cupcake she doesn’t like.

Alex Wolfe assisted in creation of this website and is a double major in environmental studies and journalism with a passion for photographing canines.

Eduardo D. Estrada is a former Navy Corpsman, currently an undergraduate student at the University of Arizona majoring in nutrition with a pre-med focus, and a minor in Spanish. He is an avid outdoor and sports enthusiast with a fascination for art.

Michael Evans is a senior at the University of Arizona majoring in Journalism. He has also completed the requirements for a minor in astronomy.

Morgan Brown is a junior majoring in microbiology. She has a passion for coffee and all things microscopic. She also works in an immunology lab.

Emily Huddleston is an environmental journalism student at the University of Arizona and studies water conservation at Saguaro National Park.

Autri Hafezi is a science journalism student at the University of Arizona where she is also studying neuroscience and cognitive science.

Anissa McKenna is a student at the University of Arizona studying environmental science and music.

Stephan Dong is an undergraduate research assistant at Zinsmaier neurogentics lab and plays the guitar in his free time.

Brennan Smallwood

Chrystal Moore is a student from Australia currently attending the University of Arizona on an exchange program. At her home university, the University of Newcastle, she is a senior finishing her bachelor’s degree in communications with a major in journalism. Her area of interest includes wildlife and habitat conservation.
